Summertime calls for vacay, getaways, play time and relaxation. Ian, though he's still very dependent and shy, is very curious and observant. I've been taking every opportunity to take Ian out to experience the world outside of our house. Even though Ian's still really young and won't remember his first trips to the beach, all the amusement parks, kids museums, and nearby sites, I feel it's important that he gets exposed to different people, environments and everything that will entice his senses.
I love seeing his reactions to new things, helping him understand that he doesn't have to be afraid and showing him how/why things work. I don't know if my experience as an elementary school tutor has anything to do with being able to get Ian to learn, understand and be comfortable in new situations but I know it's definitely something that comes with motherhood. It's just one of the many things I learned about myself because of Ian.
Ian has been to parks before, but today was his first time on the playground. He enjoyed the swings (you can watch a video here), the slide and a bouncy bike but he got bored quickly. I'm sure when he's older and more mobile, I'll have to chase after him and drag him off the playground.
We let Ian walk around a bit to practice and he stopped to watch 2 little girls play in the sand. Ian has shown interest in girls early on and I think it's so funny. He gets compliments everywhere we go and I get warnings that he'll be a heartbreaker. I hope that's not true. I'm really interested in seeing more of his personality and social skills..and eventually, how he will treat people..especially women.
