Ian's Custom Buggy

For Ian's 1st birthday, one of my aunts gave him the Step2 Whisper Ride 2 Buggy. I've always liked building/assembling stuff so instead of enlisting guy friends or Ian's grandpa to help, I kept my lips sealed and quietly made this my project.  I wasn't only going to put it together, but I knew I wanted to make it special for Ian.

So..first I had to assemble it.  The instructions were not that helpful.  They were basic, up close drawings of what I should do.  I mean, I know guys don't like reading the directions, but man it was a total guessing game at first.

Anyways, it didn't take me too long to build but I hated that I had to end it using pliers and a wrench.  I hate the wrench.  Pardon my attire, but this is how I look most days..in my gym clothes - a cut off shirt, sports bra and shorts.  I'll never be a girly girl and I'm proud to have a tomboy side that likes tools.
This is how the Step2 Whisper Ride 2 Buggy is suppose to look like:
Aaaaand this is how Ian's buggy turned out:
I re-purposed the booster cushion from his car seat and velcroed it to the seat.
I also changed the front "emblem" to a BMW one..haha.
Ian has the best ride in the house.
The buggy lacks space for a diaper bag or cooler so I attached a large carabiner onto the handle.  Con - any bag I hang there is usually heavier than the car itself so if Ian is off it, the buggy tips backwards.  Soooo the other solution is to use and wear a backpack.
Another thing that the buggy was missing was a canopy for shade.
This took a couple days to figure out. I went to Home Depot and bought a conduit clamp to screw onto the handle.
Then, I bought a stroller/car shade from Amazon to attach to it.
Above is the shade folded.  Below is how it looks open.
On our first day out for a test drive, we went to our favorite park.  It was such a nice day to cruise by the lake, watch the ducks and play on the grass.

That last picture summed up my day with Ian at the park.
Even though one goal was to take photos for this post, the most important goal was to see Ian enjoy his new ride.  He loves going out (pasyaling), people watching, seeing new things..being out in the world.
Catching this moment of him just makes me wonder what he thinks of it all.
I sat behind him and I thought to myself, this is amazing..
I created that lil' man right there.  I made that buggy all his own.
And with that, the final touch- the stick family on the back, symbolizes so much.

It's me and Ian
...with our Mickey hats, of course...
